Brandy Close

Co-Owner

I grew up in Campbellsville with my parents and twin brothers who are two years younger than me. I graduated from Taylor County High School. Early on I knew I wanted to do something to help kids. After some guidance in high school I realized that occupational therapy sounded like the perfect fit for me. I went on to school at EKU and was accepted into the occupational therapy program. I fell in love with OT and how hands on it was and how many amazing opportunities there would be for my career and how many different ways I could help others. After graduating with my bachelors in OT, I immediately went back to EKU and got my master’s degree in OT with an emphasis in pediatrics! I was so glad to be able to move back home where I was a school based occupational therapist for 8 years! Towards the end of the 7th year I began to feel like I needed to do something to reach kids on a different level. I wanted to be more involved with the family aspect of their therapy and be able to make a difference on a different level. Jen and I met while working at Taylor County schools. Both of us had the same desire to help kids on a different level. Once we realized this we knew that God had brought us together for this purpose and The Kid SpOt Center was born. I love The Kid SpOt Center and our mission to help children become as independent as possible. I love working with the families to make sure therapy is carried over in the home so the kids can get the most benefit. As The Kid SpOt has grown I really enjoy the community outreach we are able to do and how we have such an amazing staff that love kids and carry out the Kid SpOt's mission everyday.

Jennifer Houk

Co-Owner

Hello! My name is Jennifer Houk and I am one of the co-owners of The Kid SpOt Center. I grew up in Summerville and graduated high school from Green County. I have one brother, Brandon and my parents are Marty Glanzer and Denise Glanzer. From a very young age, I knew that I wanted to work with kids. I babysat some very special families as an 8th grader through the rest of my high school career. Those families will always have a piece of my heart!! When choosing my career path, I knew that as a SLP I could work with kids and celebrate the most precious milestones with families, such as their first words, first bites of food, learning sign language, and so much more. It is truly one of the most rewarding careers! I received my Bachelor degree from Western Kentucky University in 2004 and obtained my Master's degree in Communication Disorders in 2006. When I look back on life experiences, college was a turning point in my life. I had the best group of friends I could have ever ask for, along with the best professors in the Speech program that I still love like family. After graduating with my Master's degree, I married my high school sweetheart, John. I have been married to John for 13 years; however, we have been together over 20 years (he was my high school sweetheart. John is employed at US Army Corp of Engineers as the Maintenance Supervisor at Green River Lake.

We have 3 children, Skyler (12), Taylor (9), and Xander (2). Sky attends Taylor County Middle School and is in 7th grade. She loves volleyball, softball, and is quite the perfectionist in school. Sky has a very big heart and is one of the most compassionate kids I have ever met. Taylor attends Taylor County Intermediate school and is in 4th grade. She loves gymnastics, art, swimming, and is a social butterfly. Taylor keeps us on our toes and always knows how to make us smile! Xander is our sweet surprise later in life. He completed our family and God knew exactly what he was doing when he blessed us with this little boy. He loves to play outside, all farm animals, and his family! I am truly blessed with the best family and support system I could ever ask for. We live a very fast paced life supporting our kids and we wouldn't change one minute of it!

Upon my college graduation, I worked at Taylor County school district where I met Brandy. Little did I know that she had the same passion and love to help kids, and we shared the same dream to open a clinic. Through much prayer, planning, and family support our dream became a reality!
